I found a recipe for making baby wipes out of paper towels. It called for cutting a roll of paper towels in half and I remember the mineral oil, but nothing else. I know there was more to it, I printed it out and have lost it. If anyone knows where to find this or has the recipe, please let me know.
Thank you in advance.
The recipe I use calls for 2 cups of water, 2 T baby soap, 2 T baby oil … mix well and then soak your paper towels in it until they are as wet as you want them to be. My only problem with these was, I used cheapy paper towels and ended up wasting lots of them! I suggest buying thick paper towels!
Good luck! 🙂

The other suggestion I have is to buy or make some reusable wipes, they are so much stronger and they increace your money savings. I know one woman who used old, soft flannel pjs and she just cut them to be the size of commercial wipes and surged around the edges. I used Reusable wipes from Indisposables and I also got a dozen of those cheap washclothes (Wal-Mart) and actually prefered the cheap washclothes. I kept everything in a wipes box.

Here’s the recipe I have for Homemade Baby Wipes
>From Miserly Moms: Living on One Income in a Two Income Economy by Jonni McCoy
- 1 roll strong and thick paper towel
- 2 1/4 cup water
- 2 Tablespoons Baby Shampoo
- 1 Tablespoon Baby Oil
- 1 Wipes Container (large round type)
Cut the roll in half (making two smaller rolls). Use a large cutting knife and sharpen it right before cutting, and again during cutting. Don’t use a serrated edge knife. Set aside one half of the roll for another day. Remove the cardboard tube by grabbing the edge of it with a pair of pliers and twist as you pull out. If you use a larger roll, pull some of the paper out with the tube so that it will compress into the container. Combine the wet ingredients in the empty wipes container. Pour out 1 cup of the mixture. Place the roll in the wipes container (you may need to squeeze it a bit to fit). Pour the extra liquid on the paper to saturate the top half. Pull the wipes out through the center of the roll. To make pulling them out easier, cut some of the lid’s small “X” opening away, making a wider hole in the center.
